SR 5/US 1 PD&E Study | FDOT District Four | Indian River County | Florida
This study involved evaluation of several alternatives for the proposed widening of SR 5/US 1 from four- to six-lanes from 53rd Street to CR 510. The purpose of this study is to address roadway capacity improvements and bicycle and pedestrian accommodations along the corridor. The project length was approximately 4.7 miles. US 98 / John Singletary Bridge PD&E Study | FDOT District One | Polk County | Florida
This study evaluates feasible alternatives for replacement of the existing John Singletary Bridge (No. 160064), to accommodate future traffic, improve substandard geometry and functional deficiencies, and enhance safety conditions for motorists and pedestrians/bicyclists. The existing John Singletary Bridge is a historic structure located over the Peace River in the city of Fort Meade.
SR 501 (Clearlake Road) PD&E Study | FDOT District Five | Brevard County | Florida
The purpose of this study is to address roadway capacity improvements and bicycle and pedestrian accommodations along SR 501 from Michigan Avenue to Industry Road. The documentation for this project was a State Environmental Impact Report (SEIR) and was conducted as a State-Wide Acceleration and Transformation (SWAT) project.
SR 30A (US 98 / Panama City Beach Parkway) PD&E Study | FDOT District Three | Bay County | Florida
The purpose of this study is to widen SR 30A from four- to six-lanes from Mandy Lane to the Thomas Drive intersection to address the existing and projected future failing level of service for this segment of SR 30A.
Able Canal Shared-use Pathway PD&E Study | FDOT District One | Lee County | Florida
The purpose of the Able Canal shared-use pathway is to facilitate the use of viable, non-motorized travel options for commuters and recreational users in the Able Canal corridor and within the Lehigh Acres community. The 5.58-mile shared-use pathway is intended to provide connections between nearby residential areas and Lehigh Acres park facilities. The pathway will extend from Harns Marsh to Joel Boulevard (CR 884).
I-95 Managed Lanes PD&E Study | FDOT District Four | Broward and Palm Beach Counties | Florida
This PD&E study involves adding managed lanes along the mainline of I-95 from Stirling Road in Broward County to Linton Boulevard in Palm Beach County. Scalar was a sub-consultant on this project and developed the signing and pavement marking master plan.
Highway Design Projects
SR 817 (University Drive) at Nova Drive | FDOT District Four | Broward County | Florida
This project involved adding an auxiliary lane to northbound SR 817 from south of Nova Drive to the I-595 westbound on-ramp. It also included intersection safety improvements at SR 817 and Nova Drive by adding additional left and right turn lanes on Nova Drive. Signalization tasks included improvements to the existing signals at SR 817/Nova Drive and SR 817/SW 23rd Street. The project also included upgrading roadway features, pedestrian access, drainage systems, and utility coordination and relocates, as well as significant public involvement and agency coordination. Design services were completed in March 2014 and construction for this project was completed in December 2015.
SR 842 (Broward Boulevard) Bridge Replacement and Milling and Resurfacing | FDOT District Four | Broward County | Florida
This project involved replacing the east and westbound bridges over the North Fork of the New River and milling and resurfacing and widening SR 842 from SW 18th Avenue to US 1. A temporary diversion bridge will be constructed adjacent to the existing bridge for traffic control to avoid lane closures. A MiCE Study is also being conducted as part of this project due to temporary Section 4(f) impacts caused by the diversion bridge. Scalar was a sub-consultant on this project and provided final signing and pavement marking plans, signalization plans, temporary traffic control plans, lighting plans, and public involvement activities. SR 520 Milling and Resurfacing | FDOT District Five | Brevard County | Florida
This project involves approximately three miles of milling and resurfacing along SR 520 from east of the I-95 interchange to Aurora Road. The project included the extension of a box culvert on the northside of SR 520 at Range Road and the addition of an eastbound right turn lane and new mast arm signal at Burnett Road.
SR 580 Milling and Resurfacing | FDOT District Seven | Pinellas County | Florida
This milling and resurfacing project involved over one mile of milling and resurfacing from SR 595 (Alt. US 19) to Pinehurst Road in the city of Dunedin. The project included redistribution of the existing typical section to incorporate four-foot bicycle lanes by reducing the lane widths. Addition of the bicycle lanes provides continuity and connectivity for bicyclists to access the Pinellas Trail that crosses the west end of the project. Additionally, sidewalks, driveways, and curb ramps at intersections were updated to comply with ADA requirements.
SR 808 (Glades Road) TSM Improvements | FDOT District Four | Palm Beach County | Florida
The purpose of this project is to provide Transportation System Management (TSM) capacity improvements along the SR 808 (Glades Road) corridor from SR 7 (US 441) to SR 5 (US 1/Federal Highway). The following are the proposed improvements:
SR 7 (US 441): add a third left turn lane along with a two-foot-wide bike lane buffer on northbound and southbound approaches
I-95 Northbound Exit Ramp: increase northbound left and right turn bays by 125 feet
Glades Road: add a westbound auxiliary lane from entrance ramps to I-95 to W. University Drive
NW 13th Street: convert existing southbound through lane to an exclusive right turn lane and add a second northbound left turn lane by converting an existing through lane
NW 4th Avenue: add a second northbound left turn lane
Dixie Highway: increase northbound left turn lane queue length by approximately 200 feet
US 1/Federal Highway: increase the northbound left turn lane queue length by approximately 150 feet
I-75 Milling and Resurfacing | FDOT District One | Manatee County | Florida
This project involves milling and resurfacing approximately five miles of I-75 from south of Moccasin Wallow Road to the Hillsborough County Line, including a portion of Moccasin Wallow Road and the ramps at the interchange.
SR 60 Signing and Pavement Markings | FDOT District One | Polk County | Florida
This milling and resurfacing project involved approximately seven miles of milling and resurfacing from CR 630 to the Kissimmee River Bridge, as well as reconstruction of the Ice Cream Slough Bridge. Scalar was responsible for final signing and pavement marking plans that corrected passing lane transitions, and final temporary traffic control plans for the bridge reconstruction.
SR 710 (Warfield Boulevard) | FDOT District Four | Martin County | Florida
This roadway widening project consists of reconstruction of SR 710 from two- to four-lanes from Allapattah Road to the FP&L Power Plant Access Road, immediately west of the Town of Indiantown. Scalar was a sub-consultant on this project and provided final signing and pavement marking plans, signalization plans, traffic signal warrant analysis for four intersections, and a lighting justification report.
SR 758 Signing and Pavement Markings | FDOT District One | Sarasota County | Florida
This 3.82-mile project involved final signing and pavement marking plans and signalization plans for the milling and resurfacing of SR 758 from Siesta Drive to Bond Place.
US 41 (SR 45/Cleveland Avenue) Pre-Scope Report | FDOT District One | Lee County | Florida
The purpose of this project was to identify and quantify significant resurfacing, restoration, and rehabilitation (RRR) cost items for 2.4 miles of US 41 from Winkler Avenue to SR 82.
Lake Alfred Pedestrian Bridge | FDOT District One | Polk County | Florida
The purpose of this project is to construct a bicycle and pedestrian bridge over US 17/92 to provide connectivity of the Lake Alfred Trail north and south of US 17/92. The bridge consists of a single span design that will serve as the “Gateway” to the Lake Alfred community.
St. Ann's School Sidewalk Project | FDOT District One | Collier County | Florida
The purpose of this project is to construct sidewalk at locations in the vicinity of St. Ann's School, in the cCity of Naples, where sidewalk is incomplete or missing.
Mooring Line Drive Sidewalk Project | FDOT District One | Collier County | Florida
The purpose of this project is to construct sidewalk on the north side of Mooring Line Drive, located within the city of Naples, from the bridge (no. 030125) over Moorings Bay to approximately 700 feet west of US 41.
Queens Drive and Richmond Avenue Safe Routes to Schools | FDOT District One | Collier County | Florida
The purpose of this project is to construct a sidewalk along the east side of Queens Drive from Orange River Elementary School to Richmond Avenue. Sidewalk will also be constructed along the southside of Richmond Avenue from SR 80 (Palm Beach Boulevard) to Queens Drive. The drainage will also be upgraded along the east side of Queens Drive.
SR 30 (US 98) Turn Lane Improvements | FDOT District Three | Okaloosa County | Florida
The purpose of this project is to extend or construct new westbound left turn lanes on SR 30 (US 98) at Pryor Drive, Palmetto Drive/Sleepy Hollow Drive, Wright Parkway, and St. Mary Avenue.
