PROJECT MANAGERS

 

Scalar Consulting Group is looking to fill Project Manager positions (10+ years experience) with highly motivated, detail-oriented, self-starters in either of the following offices: Riviera Beach, Tampa, Maitland, and Pensacola. This is a full-time position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Oversee the design and preparation of construction plans, specifications and estimates on highway projects including: development of horizontal and vertical geometries, preparation of plan and profile plans, design reports, design calculations, typical sections, pavement design, roadway cross sections, drainage plans, temporary traffic control plans, plan quantity computations, construction cost estimates, signing and marking plans, signalization plans, lighting plans, temporary traffic control plans, and utility relocation coordination.  

Other duties include, but not limited to:

  • Ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget as negotiated with the client

  • Provide design and constructability plan and report quality reviews

  • Coordinate with clients and project team members, prepare meeting notes, prepare invoices, and prepare progress reports

  • Identify project risks and develop viable recommendations for resolution

  • Pursue new projects from existing and new Scalar clients. Activities include: meet with clients, coordinate with project stakeholders, prepare letters of interest, prepare presentations, prepare for question and answer sessions, lead presentations, prepare contracts, prepare scopes of services, and prepare fee estimates.

 

Requirements:

  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer in the State of Florida

  • Bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university

  • 10+ years of highway design experience, especially on Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) projects

  • Legally allowed to work in the United States

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, MicroStation, and GEOPAK

  • Knowledgeable of FDOT and federal policies and procedures for design and construction document preparation.

  • Travel to other office locations may be required

Abilities:

  • Self-starting individual, good communicator, organizational and interpersonal skills essential to work on multiple projects at any given time under minimal supervision

  • Detail-oriented with good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to support project design and new project pursuit efforts

  • Read and interpret documents and interact with co-workers in small groups

  • Apply common sense understanding to provide detailed instructions to project team members

  • A strong work ethic with the desire to learn and achieve

  • Mentor junior engineering staff to nurture their knowledge and growth

  • Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines
